Transformers/ Ghostbusters (2019) 5 Issues

Welcome back to the cobweb corner…I mean, comic corner!! It’s time for another spooky entry for this month, and this week we are taking a look at the cross over series from IDW Publishing: Transformers/Ghostbusters. This 5 issue mini series is in celebration of both franchises’ 35th anniversary. Both franchises were started in 1984 but couldn’t be any more different so what kookiness brought them together? Let’s break it down for you.

Millions of years of civil war has passed on Cybertron, when a strange being from the stars shows up and destroys both the planet and the Decepticons who remained, despite the autobots’ retreat from the planet. Fast forward a thousand or so years when the autobots discover a distress signal coming from a small planet called earth. An autoboot by the name of Ectronymous Diamatron is sent to investigate the signal, which is in New York, where he makes some unlikely allies in… the Ghostbusters!

Turns out the thing that destroyed Cybertron was actually Gozer! And all the Decepticons are ghosts, and Starscream is still a coward and a jerk.

The series is written by Erik Burnham and illustrated by Dan Schoening and Luis Antonio Delgado. Erik Burnham is known for his work on the Transformers, Ghostbusters, and TMNT series from IDW.

I went into this series mildly curious and thinking that I wouldn’t make it through the whole thing, Especially after reading the trash that was the Star Trek/ Transformers crossover series, but I was pleasantly surprised and had a lot of fun along the way. This is just some honest good old fashioned comic book fun and I suggest everyone go and check this out if you need a break from all the scary stuff that’s been gracing shelves all week.

That’s all for today, leave your thoughts in the comments and any other comics that you think deserve the spotlight in the coming weeks! See you next week and don’t be afraid to crease the corners on a good panel!
