New TMNT Figures And Packaging Designs From NECA TOYS

For any TMNT toy collectors keeping score this Turtle Tuesday, it has been a day for the books! Still coming down off the hype of the wave 3 cartoon releases, Raph and Casey 2 packs and the SDCC exclusive "Musical Mutagen Tour" 4 pack, NECA has just announced and leaked a PILE of new items and packaging samples from their TMNT action figures and collectibles lineup! Anyone who knows me knows exactly how thrilled I am right now (practically convulsing as I type this) and I'm excited to share them with you! Most of these items are coming early 2021. The release dates are subject to change due to Coronavirus complications. We know that a lot more figures are coming but it has been something especially exciting seeing what characters they plan to do next. So, without further ado, let's jump into these reveals!

MOVIE FOOT 2 PACK

First up, we have the Foot 2 pack from the 1990 film which will be available at Walmart in September. These will be great for anyone who army builds their Foot soldiers. They don't appear to come with any new accessories that we haven't seen before. It's great that we are seeing these things pop up at Walmart stores now.

KRANG ANDROID BODY

We knew that we were getting this piece a while back but it's nice to see these items progress through the stages of production. Here we have a good view of the Krang Android Body figure. It looks like he comes with the sadistic Utrom himself; "Krang" and also a Kid Shredder figure. In an episode from the original cartoon series (I searched high and low for the exact episode and could not for the life of me find it!), Shredder, Bebop, Rocksteady and Leatherhead stumble upon a river contaminated with mutagen and Shredder decides to drink some which turns him into a little kid. The Krang Android Body, like the Metalhead figure, will be a standalone item (so, not a two pack).

MONDO GECKO/MUCKMAN/JOEY EYBALL TWO PACK

Now THIS is one hell of a two pack! We have Mondo Gecko coming with Muckman who coincidentally comes with his buddy; Joey Eyeball. Mondo comes with a decent amount of accessories including his skateboard, a blaster, a bracelet, a dynamite with timer (which can be seen in the episode "Michelangelo Meets Mondo Gecko") a brown bag, and a pre-mutated gecko. It's unclear if Muckman will come with any other accessories than Joey Eyeball or if any of his parts will be removable (similar to the original Playmates Muckman figure). Some may think of Joey as a big accessory but I'd like to think of him as his own separate mini figure. Either way, we'll take it! Joey Eyeball is pretty straight forward. The trash can has a little lip on it  and (also like the Playmates figure) Neca has confirmed that we will be able to connect the trash can holding Joey to Muckman.

VERNON FENWICK/RAT KING TWO PACK

This was something I don't think anyone really seen coming; a Vernon and Rat King two pack! However, it does make sense. Back in Season 4 of the original cartoon series in an episode titled "Were-Rats from Channel 6", Vernon and Irma from the Channel 6 News crew are turned into rats thanks to the Rat King. As Irma and Vernon roam the streets, the passers by refer to them as "Were-Rats" because of the full moon. As far as accessories go, it looks like Vernon comes with a Channel 6 News camcorder and interchangeable head and arms to complete his "Were-Rat" look. The Rat King comes with his belt, his flute and a little gang of rats (some of which look like they can hang upside-down from their tails).

GIANT SIZE TMNT

Another sort of throwback to the original Playmates line, we see here our first glimpse of packaging and the rest of the four turtles in Giant Size form! They used the sculpts from the cartoon wave for these guys. I assume they're going to be much like the 1/4th scale movie figures compared to the 7" movie figures. We only have a view of the back of the package design but boy, does it look awesome! The four brothers will come to us in the 1st wave cartoon color (that sort of olive green as opposed to the lime green color) which looks great! They appear to come with facial expression swap outs as well as bandanna swap outs (for the eyes). This is something I'd love to see Neca do in the future with the smaller figures; something very valuable to the us collectors who open these pieces for photography purposes..... or to anyone really.

SUPER SHREDDER PACKAGING

Next up we have KEVIN NASH..... I mean... SUPER SHREDDER packaging and contents revealed! The box sports that classic Secret of the Ooze poster art with a velcro window box. This thing looks absolutely stunning. He looks a little bigger than the typcal 7" figure as he rightfully should. He comes with a long bladed weapon, a TGRI (yes tGri) canister as well as a few hand swap outs.

BAXTER STOCKMAN

This release will be part of the TURTLES IN TIME video game waves. A while back, Neca did tease a Baxter Stockman cartoon figure (full color figure on the right shown above) but the differences can be seen. It looks like an entirely different sculpt. This is an early sculpt and the caption reads "Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid" and "In progress, not final, yes he will have the huge mutated hand too." The huge stretching mutated hand was present in both the SNES and arcade versions of TURTLES IN TIME.

HAMATO YOSHI/OROKU SAKI 2 PACK

Neca teased a dark image on their instagram and twitter accounts with two faint figures and a rat cage in the middle of them simply captioned "What's lurking in the shadows...". Anyone who watched the 1990 film knows exactly what is lurking in the shadows in this picture.

All in all, you can tell that if you’re a fan of the Turtles and plan on buying most of these, we are royally screwed for at least the end of the first quarter of 2021. Our wallets are scared, and they should be! There are so many other characters and bits and pieces of the Turtles lore; this is just a scratch on the surface and, as we’ve seen with the Musical Mutagen Tour 4 pack last week, Neca has no boundaries as to what they might produce next. On that note I ask what TMNT characters or items would you like to see Neca produce next? (Please, don’t say “We Wish You A Turtle Christmas,” that shit still haunts me to this day.")
